PROVO -- Hosting a double meet weekend, the BYU swim team will return to the Richards Building Pool to take on conference opponents Air Force and Wyoming, Thursday and Saturday.

“This should be a very competitive weekend, but we’re ready to go,” BYU head coach Tim Powers said. “We’re going to change up a few things against Air Force and let swimmers get involved in races they usually wouldn’t swim. We’re doing this to plan for competitive races.”

This will be the first competition for the men in over a month, while the women are coming off of a win against Colorado State this past weekend.

“This weekend will be especially tough for the guys,” Powers said. “We lost to Air Force last year for the first time in a long time and they beat us again back in November at the Arena Invite. However, they recently swam against Denver and posted times very similar to ours so it’s going to be a close one.”

The Air Force men’s team has an overall record of 9-5, and 0-2 conference record while Wyoming posts a record of 9-5, 0-2. The Falcon women currently own a 2-7, 0-5 record while the Cowgirls boast an undefeated record of 8-0, 3-0.

The BYU swim team looks to pack the stands Thursday night with the meet being part of the Y Games series. Saturday night is also a big night for the team as it is their last home meet of the season and senior night as well.

“Wyoming is also swimming really well and always brings a good team,” Powers said. “Last year at conference, it came down to the last relay between us and Wyoming. They’ve had a pretty successful season so far with both of their teams swimming strong, but we’re confident in our swimmers and our times and we’re excited to see how the races go.”

BYU will face off with Air Force on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6p.m. and Wyoming on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 1p.m. Both meets will be held in the Richards Building Pool.
