Jones Earns Third MWC Diver of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS -- With more Mountain West Conference Athlete of the Week honors this season than any other swimmer or diver, Tawni Jones tallied her third MWC Diver of the Week honor Tuesday.

TCU's Josh Bagby and Wyoming's Mark Murdock have been named MWC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, while Wyoming's Lesley Young and BYU's Jones earned women's swimming and diving honors, respectively.

Bagby, a senior from Houston, Texas, swam as a member on all five TCU relay teams that finished in the top-11 at the U.S. Short Course National Championships in Federal Way, Wash. The Horned Frogs finished eighth in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:19.35, which ties for the program's third-best time in the event. TCU also finished seventh in the 200 medley relay (1:31.07), eighth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:23.52), ninth in the 400 free relay (3:03.02), and 11th in the 800 free relay (6:48.24). Bagby also competed in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle individual events, clocking times of 21.07 and 46.06, respectively.

Murdock, a native of Flower Mound, Texas, set a Wyoming record on the platform at the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas. The junior collected a score of 355.15 on the platform to surpass his personal and school best of 346.45. Murdock, who also earned a bronze medal on the 3-meter springboard (341.60), also posted a mark of 296.80 on the 1-meter springboard to place seventh.

Young, who hails from Turlock, Calif., earned an NCAA "B" cut at the Texas Invitational in the 100-yard breaststroke. The junior finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:02.71. Young reached the finals in the 200 breast, touching in 2:16.87 to place eighth. She also competed on the Cowgirls' medley relay teams that finished in the top-10. Wyoming took eighth place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:49.19) and ninth place in the 200 medley relay (1:46.43), respectively.

Jones, a product of Mesa, Ariz., earned two medals in the BYU Diving Invitational vs. Utah. The senior finished first on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 289.58, and placed second in the 1-meter after tallying 285.30 points.
