The men's swimming team will put their Christmas training behind them and start competition again when they will host the Washington Huskies, Saturday Jan. 8 at noon. The meet will be the first for the Cougars since the Speedo Cup on Nov. 18-20. The Huskies are coming off a win against division II powerhouse UC San Diego on Jan. 2 151.5 to 105.5.

The Cougars are currently ranked No. 22 in the nation and the Huskies are only six votes short of being in the top 25. The meet is shaping up to be a lot like the teams' meeting in 2003 when the Cougars came off of the Christmas break to beat Washington 127-72.

The men will look to Kenny Carpenter and Mark Chay to lead them into the meet with the Huskies. The twosome have been having a strong season with a dozen or more top 10 finishes between the two of them during the early portion of the season.

The meet between the Huskies and Cougars will begin at noon at the Richards Building pools. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend this Saturday matinee meet.
