Cougars Host Utes in Final Conference Meet
PROVO -- The 20th ranked BYU men's swimming and diving team is looking to wrap up the regular season conference title Jan. 30 at the Richards Building pool against Utah, while the women's team is looking to avenge a loss to the Utes earlier in the season.
Both Utah and BYU are undefeated in conference dual meets, setting up a winner-takes-all meet for the conference championship. When the two teams met in October, BYU prevailed 152-136.
"Utah has a number of guys that are swimming really well right now," Coach Tim Powers said. "I expect fast times at the meet, and I expect Utah to be well prepared."
On the women's side coach Stan Crump said it was going to be a tough meet, but his team was going to give its all against Utah.
"Utah is a good dual meet team," Crump said. "They've proven they can beat anyone in this conference."
The Utes have already clinched a share of the MWC regular season championship and are currently undefeated in conference dual meets this season. The Cougars' previous meeting with Utah didn't count against the conference standings.
