Cougars Fall to Conference Rival CSU

PROVO -- The BYU women's swim team fell 191-109 to Colorado State Friday evening at the Richards Building pool.

The Cougars hadn't competed since November at the Speedo Cup, and coach Stan Crump said his swimmers were a little rusty. Crump also said the meet was a lot closer than the final score indicated as BYU lost a lot of close races.

"If we win half of the close races, we're right in there," Crump said. "And that's not taking anything away from Colorado State. They're a great team."

The Cougars lost seven races by less than one second, including the 200 medley relay, 200 free, 100 back, 50 free, 200 back, 200 breast and 200 free relay. Two Cougars,Nikki Xanthos (100 breast) and Brittany Davis (500 free), won their races.

BYU will take on New Mexico tomorrow at noon at the Richards Building pool. Admission is free to the public.
