KAHUKU, Hawaii –The BYU men’s golf team shot its second consecutive 9-over in the second round of the John H. Burns Invitational Thursday, with Zac Blair leading the way.

“We’re going through the same struggles,” Coach Bruce Brockbank said. “We have a couple of guys who are doing well, but we can’t rely on them as a team. Everyone needs to play well.”

After shooting a 1-over on the front nine, Blair kept his composure, and shot a 2-under on the back nine, moving him from 36th overall to 20th. Blair had back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 and shot par on the last four holes.

Justin Keiley, who led the team after round one, shot a 2-over putting him at even through the first two rounds.

“Yesterday was nice to see Justin shoot a good score,” Brockbank said. “He shot another respectable score today and has been one of the bright spots.”

Behind Blair and Keiley was junior Adam Tebbs who shot a 3-over 75, but moved up from 63rd to 53rd.

The Cougars will finish the final round of play tomorrow.
