KAHUKU, Hawaii –Coming off a much-needed winter break, the BYU men’s golf team faltered in the first round of the John H. Burns Invitational Wednesday, shooting a combined 9-over.
While the Cougars struggled as a team, Hawaii native Justin Keiley provided solid play, shooting a 2-under 70 which tied him for 15th place overall. A bogey on his first hole was the only blemish for the day.
Ben Hogan Watch List nominee Zac Blair shot a solid par, but sits seven shots behind the current leader. Blair is coming off a tournament victory at the Sand Hollow Amateur.
Keiley and Blair are joined by Patrick Fishburn, Adam Tebbs, Daniel Reid for team play and McCoy Willey who is competing as an individual.
The team will resume play tomorrow before finishing the last round on Friday.
