Calisto Paces Cougars on Day One

WEST LAKE VILLAGE -- Esteban Calisto and Cameron Edens sit five strokes off the lead in a tie for 23rd place after leading the BYU men's golf team to an 11th place spot after the first round of the USC Collegiate Invitational Monday.

Calisto, a senior, shot a first-round 71, his best round of the spring season to move into a tie for the 23rd overall spot that includes teammate Cameron Edens, who also carded a first-round 71.

After the start of play was delayed due to frost, competitors were only able to finish one of the two scheduled rounds. The remaining holes of the second round and the final 18 will be finished tomorrow.

Sophomore Zac Blair finished day one tied for 39th place after a first-round 73. Freshman Cole Ogden and Junior Daniel Reid are both tied for 61st after rounds of 76 on the opening day.
