PROVO -- The Brigham Young University men’s golf team will host the 2010 PING Cougar Classic April 23-24 at the par-72 Riverside Country Club.

Joining the Cougars will be Augusta State, Boise State, CS Northridge, Fresno State, Idaho, New Mexico State, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Pacific, Utah State, Utah Valley and Weber State.

Mountain West Conference foes Air Force, Colorado State, UNLV, Utah and Wyoming will also participate before preparing for the MWC Tournament May 6-8 in Tucson, Ariz.

“It’s always fun to play at your home tournament,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “There’s added pressure to play well in front of friends and family, but hopefully we come out and make our putts and play like we’re capable of.”

BYU is the defending champion of the event after going 22-under-par last year (283-276-283—842). Cougar senior Brady Johnson went -10 to finish the event in second place while two other current BYU golfers – Robbie Fillmore and Jordan Rodgers – also carded top-20 finishes.

Live scoring will be available via golfstat.com, which can be accessed through the BYU men’s golf schedule page at http://www.byucougars.com/Schedule.jsp?SP=141.
