Men's Golf Finishes 3rd at MWC Championships

TUCSON -- After an outstanding second round at the Mountain West Conference Championships, the BYU men's golf team shot a 9-over-par 293 in the final round to finish in 3rd place overall.

BYU finished just three strokes behind No. 45 TCU and two strokes ahead of No. 16 UNLV at 5-over-par. Sophomore Robbie Fillmore led the Cougars at the tournament and finished tied for second place at 1-under-par. He fired two birdies in the final round, helping the team achieve a solid score. Adam Tebbs followed Fillmore tied for eighth place at 1-over-par.

The Mountain West Conference Tournament featured nine teams, including No. 16 UNLV, No. 25 San Diego State, and No. 46 TCU. It was held at the par-71 Arizona National Golf Course where tournament tees are set at 7,136 yards. The overall winner was Colorado State at 2-under-par. Eddie Olson of UNLV won the individual tournament at 4-under-par 209.

With a 3rd place finish at the MWC Championships, the BYU men's golf team concluded its 2007-2008 season. They look forward to a strong year of competition in 2008-2009.
