Harvey Shines During Final Round of Tucker Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE -- Ron Harvey Jr. tallied the BYU men's golf team's best score of the Tucker Invitational Saturday morning with a 2-under performance.

Harvey was the Cougars most consistent golfer during the two-day event. Overall, Harvey stroked a 1-under 215 to finish in 10th place. BYU Coach Bruce Brockbank was pleased with Harvey's effort.

"I've got to hand it to Ron," Brockbank said. "He played really well today."

Unfortunately for the rest of the Cougars, the tournament was marked by inconsistency. Brockbank said maybe the team was tired from playing two tournaments this week, but he said mostly the Cougars just didn't putt well.

The UNM Championship Golf Course played out very fast because it was so dry. The drier, faster course made it difficult to convert putting opportunities.

The Cougars are dedicated to regaining the form that gained them a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championship earlier this year. Brockbank and his team said they know they're better than they showed in the Invitational. He also said the team needs to bounce back and regain their confidence.

"This is not what we're about," Brockbank said. "We'll get back at it and do better."

The Cougars look forward to the Fresno Lexus Classic next weekend and the chance to redeem themselves and get back on the fast track to a championship season.
