BYU Men's Golf Team Competes in Topy Cup in Tokyo

The tournament was rained out the first day. Play began the second day despite continued wet weather.

"The conditions were pretty bad," head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "We didn't adjust to them very well. We putted very poorly because the greens were very slow compared to what we were used to playing."

BYU shot 307 the first round and 295 the second round on Tokyo's Tanaguara Golf Course. The Cougars finished behind Washington and second-place Duke thanks to low scorers Jose Garrido and Manuel Merizalde.

"It was a great experience for our team," Brockbank said. "We didn't play extremely well, but we're looking forward to our next event."

The Cougars will be in action again on Oct. 11-12 in Dallas, Texas at the Taylor Made Red River Tournament.
