BYU leads after the second round of Morris Williams Invitational.

BYU shot a stellar six-under-par second round to jump eight shots ahead of fifth-ranked Oklahoma State on Monday at the Cleveland Golf Morris Williams Invitational.

At the Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas, the Cougars struggled with strong winds and hard greens and sat back in seventh place after the first round. But behind the play of Andy Miller, Jose Garrido and Todd Miller, who all shot second-round 70's, BYU came storming back to take the lead.

"We played an absolutely phenominal second round," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "To come back this afternoon the way we did shows the character of this team. That six-under-par really turned some heads today."

Miller, Manuel Merizalde and Miller all are currently among the top ten with Andy Miller one-shot out of first place. BYU's second round score of 282 was 14 strokes lower than any other school in this prestigious tournament. The field of the Morris Williams tournament includes four top-ten teams and 11 top-25 teams. The third and final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday.
