Harvey and Cougars Lead Tucker Intercollegiate

Albuquerque, N.M.--BYU's Billy Harvey continued his hot streak shooting a first round 67 and helped the Cougars to a five-shot first-round lead over host New Mexico at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.

Harvey's 67 tops the leaderboard followed by teammate Manuel Merizalde's 69. Senior Jesse Hibler also chipped in a great round shooting one-under-par.

Thanks to the play of Harvey, Merizalde and Hibler the 19th-ranked Cougars lead 12th-ranked New Mexico by five strokes, seventh-ranked UNLV by nine strokes and sixth-ranked Arizona by 10 strokes.

"I've never seen Billy (Harvey) so composed," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "He's playing awesome right now and I'd love to see him keep it for the next two rounds."

The Cougar will finish the third round Saturday at the UNM Championship course. BYU finished second at last year's Tucker Intercollegiate.
