Merizalde Finishes Second in First Fall Tourney

Kiawah Island, S.C. (Sept. 11, 2001) -- The BYU men's golf team took fourth place in the 2001 Cleveland Golf/Kiawah Island Invitational at Osprey Point in Kiawah Island, S.C.

The College of Charleston, host of the tournament, took first place in the tournament with an 845 over 54 holes. BYU's 857 was just three strokes behind Alabama (854) and just one stroke behind third-place Augusta State (856).

Senior Manuel Merizalde finished second in the tournament with a 208, shooting rounds of 72, 69 and 67. Sophomore Chris Graham finished sixth (211) with rounds of 68,70 and 73.

The Cougars travel to Albuquerque, N.M. Sept. 21 for the William H. Tucker Invitational.
