Jones and Shelley qualify for the Korn Ferry Utah Championship
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU men's golfers Tyson Shelley and Zac Jones qualified for the Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championship at the Monday qualifier held at Bonneville Golf Course on Monday afternoon.
Zac Jones and Shelley finished the 18-hole qualifier at five-under par in a tie for sixth. Rising freshman, Cooper Jones, was also included in the seven-way tie for sixth place. Zac Jones and Shelley overcame the seven-for-three playoff to secure births in the championship.
Former Cougar, Carson Lundell, took second which earns him a second-straight trip to the Utah Championship after carding six birdies and an eagle to finish 7-under par.
Peter Kim, Simon Kwon, Keanu Akina and Cole Ponich also participated in the Monday qualifier on Monday. Kim tied for 13th at 4-under par, Kwon tied for 22nd at 3 under, Akina tied for 58th at even par and Ponich tied for 68th at 1 over on the day.
Zac Jones, Shelley and Lundell will tee off at the Korn Ferry Utah Championship held at Oakridge Country Club on Thursday.
