NORMAN, Okla. – The BYU men’s golf team finished the shortened 2019-20 season ranked No. 17 in the final Division I Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.

“Our seniors have done great work for our team,” head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “I can’t thank them enough for getting us back in the top 20.”

Despite not competing in their final three regular season tournaments due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Cougars took first in three of the eight tournaments in which they competed. The three tournament wins tied for the fourth most in program history.

In addition, this season’s team finished the year with an 849 54-hole stroke average, the lowest in team history.

Another West Coast Conference team, Pepperdine, took the top spot in the final poll with 22 first-place votes. See the final poll.

“Peter Kuest, Rhett Rasmussen and Spencer Dunaway have set the standard for our golf program,” Brockbank said. “I am excited to see what these seniors will accomplish as they turn professional. Our underclassmen have a lot of work left to do but I believe they are ready to step up next year.”
