LIHUE, Hawai’i — The No. 15 BYU men’s golf team heads to Hawai’i to compete in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Wailua Golf Course, Feb. 20-22.

“We’re looking forward to competing in Hawai’i this weekend,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “The guys are eager to get off to a quick start and play hard.”

Senior Peter Kuest won last year’s tournament after shooting a 10-under 206 through three rounds of play. He became the fourth Cougar to win the Burns Intercollegiate in the event’s 43-year history.

“Obviously, getting another win this year would be nice,” Kuest said. “But I’m just focused on going out there and putting three solid rounds together.”

BYU is coming off an eighth-place finish at its first tournament of the spring season, the Southwestern Invitational. The Cougars look to bounce back in Hawai’i and regain some of the momentum they experienced during the fall season, where they placed in the top-two in all five of their fall tournaments.

Twenty other teams will compete alongside BYU at the Burns Intercollegiate, including WCC foes Saint Mary’s and Santa Clara and in-state rival Utah. The University of Hawai’i will host the three-day event, with teams playing one round of 18 holes each day.
