FORT WORTH, Texas — BYU men’s golfer Peter Kuest was named co-winner of the Ben Hogan Award October Golfer of the Month on Monday.

Kuest, who shared the honors with Christopher Gotterup of Rutgers, posted a 68.56 stroke average in the month of October and recorded three top-10 finishes. The 2018-19 West Coast Conference Player of the Year was also selected to this season’s All-WCC Preseason Team and named the WCC Golfer of the Month for September. Kuest has won three tournaments so far this season and 10 throughout his BYU career. He is currently ranked the No. 3 collegiate golfer in the nation by Golfstat.com.

Fourteen total ballots were tallied for the award, with 11 coming from members of the Ben Hogan Trophy Award Foundation and the Friends of Golf, while three were social media fan ballots. Those votes were issued on behalf of the top vote getter on Facebook (Kuest), Instagram (Kuest) and Twitter (Gotterup).

The Ben Hogan Award is given each May to the top men’s college golfer, taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions over the previous 12 months.
