Kuest has posted an NCAA-low 67.90 scoring average and recorded three top-five finishes in as many tournaments for BYU this season. He won the William H. Tucker Invitational Sept. 26-27 by nine strokes, firing a tournament-record 200 (-16) through three rounds of play. Kuest then went on to tie for first at the Nick Watney Invitational Sept. 30-Oct. 1, carding another 200 (-13). He most recently tied for fourth at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate after shooting a 204 (-6).

The Cougars opened the season with a first-place tie after three rounds at the Tucker Invitational, eventually settling for second after losing in a sudden-death playoff. BYU then won the Watney Invitational and tied for first at the Pate Intercollegiate, firing total scores of 822 (-30) and 823 (-17), respectively. Both total team scores were among the 10 lowest in program history.
