Rasmussen fires a 7-under on day two at Pullman Regional
PULLMAN, Wash. — Rhett Rasmussen shot a 63 (-7) to move into a second-place tie and keep BYU men’s golf in fourth place after round two at the Pullman NCAA Regional.
“We could see Rhett’s game was getting close to breaking out and it came today,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “What a great place to get it going, at the NCAA Regional. The whole team is playing steady golf, with one guy going low each day to keep us in the game. We need all five guys to be in the game tomorrow in the final round.”
Rasmussen had the second-best score in the second round, behind Oklahoma’s Blaine Hale, who shot a 62 (-8) to move into first place. Rasmussen is tied with UC Santa Barbara’s Zac Smith and WCC foe San Francisco’s Tim Widing, both of who are competing as individuals.
Freshman Carson Lundell shot an even 70 in the second round to tie for ninth place, while Peter Kuest and Brock Stanger both shot 69 (-1) for 26th and 40th place after two days, respectively. Kelton Hirsch tie with Stanger for 40th with a 71 (+1) on day two.
The final round will be played tomorrow, with the top five teams advancing to NCAA nationals, along with the top individual not on those teams. Live stats and the leaderboard can be found on Golfstat.
