Kuest, Cougars in second at WCC Championship

STOCKTON, Calif. – BYU men's golf carded a 10-under as a team to sit in second place after one round at the WCC Championship at The Reserve at Spanos Park on Thursday.

"The team played great today," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "We need to keep playing smart golf and make a few more putts to apply some pressure on San Francisco."

The Cougars trailed San Francisco by four strokes at the completion of the first round. The Dons' Toby Briggs had the round's best score at six-under.

Peter Kuest tied for the second-best individual round with a five-under on the day. He bagged a round-best seven birdies.

Subbing in for a sick Chad Hardy, Brock Stanger shot a two-under to tie for the second-best team score and seventh-best overall score. Rhett Rasmussen also scored two-under par.

Kelton Hirsch had six birdies on the day and wound up at one-under. Carson Lundell went even-par to round out the BYU lineup.
