BYU golfers compete in U.S. Amateur
MONTEREY, Calif. – Rhett Rasmussen, Peter Kuest and Spencer Dunaway competed in the U.S. Amateur Aug. 14-15 at Pebble Beach Golf Course in Monterey, California before being eliminated prior to the final round of 64.
Junior Peter Kuest shot a 147 (+4) over the first two rounds of qualifying and was one of just two golfers to advance to the 18th hole in a 24-man playoff for the final spot in the round of 64. Unfortunately his ball landed among the rocks near the beach and Kuest ended the round with a triple bogey to eliminate him from the tournament.
Fellow junior Rhett Rasmussen also shot a 147 (+4) and competed in the playoff round, getting eliminated on the first hole. Senior Spencer Dunaway shot a 155 (+12) in his first two rounds and fell short of the opportunity to play for a spot in the round of 64.
