Rhett Rasmussen to compete at 2018 U.S. Open

PROVO, Utah – BYU's Rhett Rasmussen will compete at the 118th U.S. Open Championship in Southampton, N.Y. from June 14-17.

Rasmussen recently completed his sophomore season at BYU helping the Cougars advance to the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships. During the 2017-18 season, Rasmussen posted three top 10 finishes including tying for third at the 2018 West Coast Conference Golf Championships where he shot his season low of 66 in the third round.

After competing at the local Alpine Country Club stage, Rasmussen advanced to the sectional in Daly City, California. At the sectional, played at the Lake Merced Golf Club and The Olympic Club’s Ocean Course, Rasmussen shot a 6-under-par 137. He finished in a three-way tie for third place to advance to the U.S. Open.

Rasmussen will tee off from the first hole at 2:42 p.m. EDT on June 14th with former Auburn Tiger Michael Herbert and the 2016 PGA Professional National Champion Michael Block.
