PROVO, Utah — BYU men’s golf senior Patrick Fishburn was named the 2017 UGA Men’s Player of the Year for the second-straight season, the Utah Golf Association announced on Thursday.

Fishburn has recorded 22 top-10 finishes and 12 top-five finishes and has placed first in two collegiate events over his BYU career. The West Coast Conference named Fishburn as the 2017 WCC Co-Player of the Year, as he recorded a 70.67 stroke average during the 2016-17 season.

In addition to his outstanding play in BYU’s fall and spring 2017 seasons, Fishburn dominated at the 2017 Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open, firing 63-64-63 to finish at -26. He broke the all-time tournament scoring record by four shots and finished nine shots ahead of runner-up and defending champion Zahkai Brown of Colorado. With the win, Fishburn became only the fifth amateur in the 91-year history to win the Utah Open title.

Fishburn also had outstanding performances at the 119th Utah State Amateur Championship, the U.S. Amateur Qualifier, the Valley View Amateur and the Golden Spike Amateur.

The BYU senior is currently the 16th ranked player in the country.
