Fishburn wraps up season at NCAA Regional
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — BYU golfer Patrick Fishburn wrapped up his season with the third and final round of the NCAA Albuquerque Regional Wednesday at the UNM Championship Course.
The sophomore out of Ogden, Utah, competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 53rd place after shooting a 7-over-par on the day for the third round score of 79.
"I came into the event playing good golf but didn't execute well," Fishburn said. "I have a lot of practicing to do."
Tied along with the Cougar golfer were Texas A&M’s Ben Crancer, San Diego State’s Riccardo Michelini and Wagner College’s Lucas Moreno who all ended up with a 238 overall score over the three rounds.
Fishburn shot an even par on six of the first nine holes Wednesday with three bogeys that put him at 3-over. He then shot two bogeys and a double-bogey as he progressed through holes 10-14 but salvaged the final four with an even par.
During the 2015-16 campaign, Fishburn had three top-five and six top-10 finishes. He was named to the 2015-16 All-WCC Men's Golf First Team.
Jon Rahm of Arizona State won the regional with a 4-under par and a final tally of 212.
