Cougars take sixth at Arizona Intercollegiate
TUSCON, Ariz. — Sophomore Patrick Fishburn led the Cougars to a sixth place finish in the Arizona Collegiate as he placed eighth individually, Saturday.
“Patrick continues to play solid golf,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “His play was key to our sixth place finish as a team. I saw progress this tournament, and I saw some really good golf being played throughout today’s round. We are going a step in the right direction, and we can get there if we eliminate some of our loose shots.”
FIshburn’s eighth place finish is his third top-10 finish of the year. Fishburn's four birdies through 18 holes helped him shoot two–under-par in the third round of play to finish the tournament at even par.
Teammate Zach Pritchard ended the tournament tied for 38th place shooting +5 on the day. C.J. Lee shot four-over-par through today’s third round and finished the event tied for 47th.
The Cougars sixth place finish in the Arizona Collegiate is the team's best of the season. BYU shot 34-over-par as a team through 54 holes of golf for a total score of 886. The Cougars shot their lowest team round of 293 in their third and final round of play. No. 10 Texas took first in the event at nine-under-par with No. 23 Washington in second at four-under-par. The University of Utah finished in 10th place.
BYU men’s golf will continue spring play Feb. 17-19, at the John H. Burns Invitational held at the Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Hawai’i. Links to live stats can be found on the BYU men’s golf schedule page.
