BYU men travel to Griak Invitational
PROVO, Utah-- The No. 4 BYU men’s cross country team looks to continue its strong start to the season Saturday at the Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.
“This is the weekend when the racing starts to matter,” BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said. “We can score points that will help us through the rest of the season. We are going in with the hope and expectation to win even in such a strong field. We’ll do our best.”
The field will include perennial Division II powerhouse Adams State as well as Arizona State and North Carolina State, two top-30 nationally ranked teams.
The Cougars are led by Tylor Thatcher, winner of the Autumn Classic, along with fellow preseason all-conference selections Steve Flint and Jason Witt. Sophomore Jon Nelson has had a great season thus far, finishing first in the Utah Open and fifth at the Autumn Classic.
The race will begin at 12:20 p.m. CT. The Cougars’ next race will be at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 19, their last race before the West Coast Conference Championships on Nov. 2.
