Cross country begins season at Utah Open
The No. 4 BYU men’s cross country team will travel to Salt Lake City to kick off its season at the Utah Open on Friday.
“We are excited to get started,” head coach Ed Eyestone said. “We will use this race to see who will be in that top group.”
Senior All-American Tylor Thatcher is expected to lead the Cougars, along with preseason all-conference selection Jason Witt. BYU finished sixth in last year’s NCAA championships and was picked as the preseason favorite to win the WCC in 2013.
The race will be hosted by the University of Utah at Murray Park and will begin at 3 p.m.
BYU will host the Autumn Classic, its only home race of the season, on Saturday, Sep. 14 at the Clarence F. Robison Track and Field Complex on campus.
