FT. COLLINS -- In the last match of the 2010 season the BYU women's volleyball team (14-16, 9-7 MWC) fell to No. 14 Colorado State 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 24-26, 21-25) Friday night at Moby Arena.

"I was really proud of the girls, we pretty much played them point-for-point tonight," BYU head coach Shay Goulding said. "We let them get a couple runs and made a few too many mistakes, but we had a few girls play particular good games tonight. Jen Hamson and Stephanie Snow played well tonight, and Kiana Rogers distributed the ball well. I'm proud of these girls and I'm honored to be a part of them."

Kiana Rogers led the Cougars in assists and digs, distributing the ball 37 times and adding 13 digs - her 13th double-double of the season. Libero Kendalyn Hartsock also posted 13 digs.

Three Cougars were in double figures against the Rams with true freshman Jennifer Hamson leading the way with 15 kills while Snow had 12 kills and Christina Measom added 10. Nicole Warner and Stephanie Snow held up the block with five and six total blocks, respectively. Snow earned two solo blocks on the night.

In the first set alone, BYU racked up five service errors, giving the Rams maintain a comfortable lead, although the team was able to stick with the Rams, eventually falling on a hitting error at 25-22.

The Cougars weren't about to back down and fought back to take the second set from the Rams. After the score was knotted at nine, BYU pulled away with the lead and managed to hold on throughout the set. With six kills from Hamson alone, the Cougars came out on top 25-16 in set two.

Being able to stay with the Rams, the Cougars tried to hold on in sets three and four, but eventually fell 26-24 and 25-21, respectively.

PROVO -- The BYU women’s volleyball team will travel to Wyoming Wednesday and No. 14 Colorado State Saturday to play in its last two matches of the season. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. MT.

On a 4-win streak, the team improved its record to 13-15 overall and 8-6 in the Mountain West Conference with wins over TCU and New Mexico last week. The Cougars look to achieve a .500 record to end the 2010 season with two road wins.

The last time out, Christina Measom led the BYU women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 victory Nov. 18, shutting down TCU for the second time this season. Measom recorded a career-high 18 kills, later tallying MWC Player of the Week on Nov. 22.

Also against TCU, Christie Carpenter reached her fifth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs. Stephanie Snow and Jennifer Hamson also scored in double figures, scoring 16 and 13, respectively, while Kendalyn Hartsock led in digs with 22.

On Nov. 20 in the last home match of the 2010 season, the team upset No. 2-MWC-ranked New Mexico 3-1. Going out strong in her last home match as a Cougar, Measom tallied 14 kills on .407 hitting while Carpenter led the team with 15 kills. Hamson was also in double-digit kills with 13. Senior setter Kiana Rogers tallied four kills and 48 assists while libero Kendalyn Hartsock had a career-high 25 digs and Coriann Clark added a career-high 13 digs.

The team finished the night with 15.0 team blocks, led by sophomore Nicole Warner with seven assisted blocks and one solo block.

The Cougars will take on Wyoming Wednesday in the 71st meeting between the teams. BYU leads the all-time series at 65-5, with the Cougars falling in the last meeting, 3-1.

Saturday the Cougars will travel to Ft. Collins for a matchup against the No. 14 Rams in also the 71st meeting with BYU leading the series 48-25-1. In the last meeting at the Smith Fieldhouse, the Cougars fell 3-2 to the Rams.

Jodi Purdy leads the Cowgirls on the net with 332 season kills and 3.29 kills per set while JennaRae Jester controls the block with 15 solo blocks and 121 assisted blocks on the season, averaging 1.35 per set.

The Rams are led by Danielle Minch on the attack with 297 kills and 3.38 kills per set while setter Evan Sanders has 992 total assists on the season with 10.55 per set.
