PROVO -- Just one week after suffering defeat at the hands of Utah State, the BYU women's gymnastics team set a new school record with a final score of 197.325 to avenge the loss to the Aggies, who finished the meet with a team score of 195.750. The Cougars also recorded a school record of 49.275 on the balance beam en route to the victory.

Adding to the storyline, senior Kim Little ended the final home meet of her career with a record-breaking performance in the floor exercise. Little, the only senior on the Cougar squad, struggled early on the uneven bars. But she was awarded a perfect 10 from one of the two judges scoring the floor exercise on her way to setting a new school record of 9.975 in the final event of the evening. Little shared the previous record of 9.950 with four other BYU gymnasts.

"Kim did a great job tonight," said BYU coach Brad Cattermole. "I couldn't ask for anything more, and if we would have scripted it, this is about how it would have turned out."

In addition to Little's solid performance on the floor, junior Kelly Parkinson broke her own school record of 39.550, which she set just over a year ago, finishing the competition with an all-around total of 39.625. Parkinson tied her previous personal best of 9.950 on the floor exercise and won the vault with a 9.900 on her way to winning the all-around competition.

Sophomore Tina Ellis captured wins in two events for the Aggies, scoring 9.950 on both the uneven bars and the balance beam.

BYU will close out the regular season with a trip to the University of Utah next Saturday.
