Cougars Capture Third Place

KAHUKU -- The BYU women's golf team captured its third consecutive top-10 finish Thursday as the final round of the Turtle Bay Invitational concluded in Kahuku, Hawaii.

Junior Maggie Yuan led the Cougars on the final day with a 2-over 74 to finish tied for fifth place. It was Yuan's second consecutive top-20 finish of the fall.

Sophomore Kelsey Vines paced the Cougars all week and finished tied for seventh with a third-round 75. It was Vines' first top-10 finish as a Cougar.

After carding two consecutive top-10 finishes this fall, senior Jade Bollinger finished 16th, shooting a final-round 74.

Sophomores Amanda Keith and Annika Afoa finished tied for 19th and 17th respectively. Afoa, competing in her first Turtle Bay Invitational as a Cougar, finished the final round with a 5-over 79.

Each golfing independently, seniors Emily Copier and Sara Romero finished day three with scores of 81 and 84 respectively. Copier finished tied for 32nd while Romero finished 39th overall.

With the third-place finish, the Cougars now take a two-month break in preparation for the spring season which begins Feb. 14 at the Gold Rush in Yorba Linda, Calif.
