LUBBOCK, Texas — No. 28 BYU women’s golf finished 12th at the NCAA Lubbock Regional on Wednesday held at The Rawls Course, while senior Alexandra White tied for ninth individually.

“As a team we are really disappointed,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “We know we could have played better, and it is tough not to advance. I am so proud of our seniors and it was a joy to watch them compete. They are fierce competitors.”

After finishing in ninth place after two rounds of play, the Cougars fired a final-round team score of 295 to claim 12th place in the postseason regional event. BYU finished the tournament carding 297-301-295.

Arizona State placed first out of 18 competing teams. The Sun Devils shot 16-under as a team on day three to finish at 22-under.

White led BYU women’s golf, shooting under par in rounds one and two, and concluding the third round with a 74. The senior’s consistent play yielded yet another top-10 finish, her ninth of the season.

White’s total individual score of 215 (-1) proved to be enough to advance the senior to the NCAA championships as the top three individual scores of non-qualifying teams continue postseason play.

“I am super proud of Alex,” Roberts said. “She has worked so hard and been so focused this year. It is good to see her succeed and advance to nationals.”

Julienne Soo of Oklahoma and Oregon State's Susie Cavanagh will also move on from the regional to compete individually at the NCAA championships.

Brooklyn Hocker tied for 45th place at the NCAA Lubbock Regional. Hocker, who fired a pair of 74s in the first two rounds, shot +5 in the final round on Wednesday.

Kendra Dalton fired a third-round 70 to tie for 53rd place. Dalton’s 2-under-par day was her best round of the tournament. The junior shot +10 through 54 holes.

Rose Huang carded 73-70-74 in three rounds of the Lubbock Regional. The sophomore, who finished at +11, tied for 59th place overall. Lauren Atkinson placed 92nd.

White will represent No. 28 BYU women’s golf and compete as an individual at the NCAA Championships held at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois May 19-24.
