ALPHARETTA -- Freshman Esteban Calisto's phenomenal third round at the U.S. Collegiate Championship helped him achieve a solid 10th place finish at 2-over-par. Calisto finished one stroke behind No. 1 Michael Thompson of Alabama and tied with No. 11 Kevin Chappell of UCLA.

Round three of the U.S. Collegiate proved to be the strongest for the BYU men's golf team. They shot 7-over-par as a team, finishing in 15th place at 56-over-par--just four strokes behind No. 43 Texas.

Calisto shot a 2-under-par 72 in the third round, hitting two birdies on the front nine and two on the back. Sophomores Robbie Fillmore and Brady Johnson followed Calisto, tied for 71st place at 21-over-par.

The U.S. Collegiate Championship featured 15 teams, including nine of the nation's top 11 teams--No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 UCLA and No. 5 USC. The overall individual winner was Trent Leon of No. 6 Oklahoma State, who shot 69-69-70-208. USC won the tournament at even par, followed by No. 6 Oklahoma State in second place and No. 1 Alabama in third.
