Placed 2nd at the California state championships in the 800m in 1997 while running at Mission San Jose HS in Fremont, California...placed 6th at the Golden West meet in Sacramento...winner of the Hamption-Phillips meet in San Jose and the Oakland Invitational...named athlete of the week twice by the local newspaper...member of the distance medley team that took 3rd at state in a time of 10:13...won 10 varsity letters in high school, including four in track, three in cross country, and three in soccer...named Bay Area Track Athlete of the Year.
