• Older brother, Taylor, also ran at BYU. Dad and both grandfathers attended BYU
• Enjoys guitar, dirt and mountain biking, and snowboarding
• Sports hero is Jared Ward
• Pre-race meal is a Costco poppyseed muffin, orange juice and Canadian bacon
• Chose BYU because it is where he felt he would grow the most academically, athletically and spiritually
• Also recruited by Boise State, Idaho State and Utah State

Before BYU

• A Footlocker All-American, two time New Balance Indoor All-American and New Balance Outdoor All-American in high school
• Five-time state champion
• High school coach is Chris Belcher
• National Honor Society member (2008-2012)
• Graduated from Highland High School with high honors
• Eagle Scout with three palms
• Owned and operated a lawn and yard care business
• Started running to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Taylor
