PROVO, Utah (11/6/02) -- The BYU women's swimming and diving team will travel to Albuquerque, N.M. this Thursday for a four-team invitational meet at the University of New Mexico.

The Cougars will be racing against the Lobos, San Diego State University, and Northern Arizona University. Last year the women defeated both the Lobos and Aztecs in head-to-head competition, the team did not face Northern Arizona last season.

"New Mexico is theoretically the best diving team in the conference," said women's diving head coach Keith Russell. "We can compete, but it will be a tough test for us."

Senior diver Kelli Einfeldt will lead a young Cougar diving team at the meet. In her first competition of the season, Einfeldt topped the competition in the 1-M and 3-M diving events against Utah, comfortably winning both events.

Sophomore swimmer Nichole Burrows is coming off of wins in both of the team's last two meets. Burrows won the 100 back at the Pacific Invitational and the 50 free last weekend against Utah.

Team captain senior Amanda Grant and freshman Shannon Bloom also had strong showings against Utah and will provide much of the leadership for the women at the meet.

"It will be a good contest, it's going to be a shootout in Albuquerque," said Russell.
