Cougar divers to compete in Air Force Diving Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In a meet consisting of eleven universities, the BYU dive team holds the spotlight at this weekend’s Air Force Diving Invite at the Cadet Natatorium. 

Competition is set to take place February 2-4, with events beginning at 10 a.m. MT. BYU will competing against Air Force, California Baptist, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State, Denver, Missouri, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, Texas A&M, Wyoming and Utah. 

Last Time Out

The divers had a solid showing in their dual with the University of Utah last weekend. Mickey Strauss placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 385.80 and 372.10. Carter Davis also set a new personal best in the 1-meter dive scoring a 246.05 for the Cougars. The men's team will look to capitalize on their opportunity to compete in what will be their final meet before the MPSF Championships.

For the women divers, Alexia Jackson has led the way the majority of the season, continuing her strong year against the Utes in last week’s competitions. In the 1-meter, she would finish with a 269.85, while posting a 326.25 in the 3-meter. Sophia DeBergh also posted a new personal best in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a 249.65. 

Meet Information

The first flights for each meet will begin at 8 a.m. MT, with the first event beginning at 10 a.m. MT each day. Over the course of the weekend, the divers will compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform dive events. A recap of the results will be posted to the byucougars.com website at the conclusion of each day's events. A live stream of the events will also be available on Air Force's YouTube page.
