BYU delivers strong individual performances on day two of US Open
GREENSBORO, N.C. — After having no athletes participate in day one's events on Wednesday, swimmers Abe Barragan, Diego Camacho and Julia Bartell represented BYU well on day two of the Toyota US Open.
In the men's 400m freestyle event, Barragan delivered his best time in nearly the last four years as a a part of the Cougar program, as well as a season best, posting a 4:03.01. Barragan would place 32nd out of 40 individual swimmers in the event.
BYU had two swimmers participate in the 50m freestyle event, Bartell and Camacho. Bartell swam a 27.28 in her heat, just over three seconds shy of her personal best and good for 53rd in the field. Camacho swam his best time as a Cougar in Thursday's event, posting a 23.61 to place 47th out of 74 swimmers.
Tomorrow's action will feature BYU swimmers in the 400m IM, 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke. The events can be streamed live on the USA Swimming website, beginning at 9 a.m. EST and 6 p.m. EST.
