Grand Junction, Colo. — After a successful offseason and preseason, BYU swim and dive is ready to get its season officially underway. The Cougars will do so this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1 against three NCAA DI opponents, two teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and a club team.

Swimmers and divers will participate in a total of 44 events throughout the weekend at the El Pomar Natatorium in Grand Junction, Colorado. Sessions will begin Friday at 4 p.m. MDT and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. MDT.

"We are looking forward to racing and competing off the blocks and diving boards," BYU Head Coach Shari Skabelund said. "We have some great competition from several teams. We have been training hard and expect some amazing results. We love to race and compete, it is what it is all about!"

The Cougars will be competing against eight women's teams and six men's teams. Joining BYU in the event will be DI universities Air Force, Grand Canyon and Northern Colorado (women). Division II universities Adams State and CSU Pueblo will also be participating, along with the CMU club team.

The meet will be scored in an invitational style, opposed to the multiple-dual format that has been used in prior years. The diving events will consist of six dive formats on Friday and eleven dive formats on Saturday.
