Tuitama, Stirling highlight Wave I Olympic Trials Meet

OMAHA, Neb. – Tama Tuitama and Connor Stirling highlight BYU's competition at the Wave I Olympic Trials Meet from June 4-7. 

Tuitama finished in second place in the 400-meter medley relay, only .03 seconds behind the leader, at 2:03.85, earning him a spot in the finals. The junior finished eighth in the B Finals with a time of 2:05.19. 

In the 50 free, Connor Stirling tied for 16th place with a time of 22.99 in prelims also sending him to the finals. In the A Finals, Stirling finished eighth with a time of 23.05. 

Chloe Freeman placed 19th, just shy of the finals cut, in the 400 free prelim with a time of 4:41.09 while  Brynn Sproul clocked a 1:04.61 time in the 100 back prelims for 36th place. Ryan Sorensen and Levi Jensen both competed in the 100 breast finishing tied for 47th and 78, respectively in prelims while Brigham Harrison tied for 51st in the 50 free with a time of 23.05. 

To qualify for the Wave II trials, swimmers had to secure a top-two finish in the finals of the event. Tyler Edlefsen recorded a Wave II trials qualifying time earlier in the season and will compete in mid-June for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
