PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive team will travel to California to compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Feb. 19-22.

“We have been training for this all season,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “Our men and women both have a strong chance of winning, but it will take everyone swimming and diving their best to make that happen. I am so proud of the athletes. This has been a great season.”

The men’s team placed third at the MPSF Championships last year while the women took fourth. Gwen Gustafson placed first last year as a freshman in the 100-yard freestyle and several other teammates posted top-five finishes. Several other Cougars earned spots in BYU’s all-time best records.

During the four-day meet, the Cougars will compete against Cal Poly, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Hawaii and Pacific. UC Davis and San Diego will also compete on the women’s side.

The swim team will compete in Monterey Park, California, at East Los Angeles College, while the divers will be in Mission Viejo at the Marguerite Aquatic Center. Swimming begins on Wednesday at 6 p.m. PST and will continue Thursday through Saturday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. For the divers, competition will begin at 10 a.m. PST on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday’s dive meet will begin at 11 a.m. PST.

Results will be posted daily on the BYU swim and dive schedule page and live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app. A live video feed for swimming can also be found here
