PROVO, Utah – In BYU’s final regular season meet, the swim team will compete against in-state rival University of Utah at the Ute Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. MST.

“This is one of the best meets of the season,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “It brings out the best in both universities as we race.”

The Cougars and Utes faced off earlier this season in September for their annual relay meet. Freshman Gwen Gustafson shined as she out-touched a Utah swimmer in the mixed 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in first with teammates Payton Sorenson, Connor Stirling and Tiare Coker.

Sorenson is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the men’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of 19.19 and No. 42 in the men’s 100-yard freestyle at 43.20. Freshman Brynn Sproul is also ranked nationally in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke.

The divers will represent BYU at the Air Force Invitational on February 1-2 in Colorado Springs at the USAFA Cadet Natatorium.

These will be the final meets for BYU swimming and diving before they prepare for the MPSF Championships held Feb. 20-23.
