PROVO, Utah – BYU swim and dive will travel to take on Grand Canyon this Saturday at 1 p.m. MST in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Southwest Valley Family YMCA in the first meet of the new year.

“This meet against Grand Canyon should be a pretty good battle,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “They are a very well-coached team and they will come to compete. The first meet of the new year is always tough for any team, so we hope to get a good mix going. We have a lot of athletes from Arizona and I know they will be ready to shine in their home state.”

The men's swimmers will be led by Jake Taylor, who broke a school record in the 200-yard individual medley at the Texas Invite in December. The women’s team will also look to start the year strong after a great performance at the Texas Invite with a handful of swimmers reaching career-and season-best times. The divers, who saw their last action at the Arizona Diving Invite in November, will hope to continue the success they’ve had in a great start to the season.

Saturday’s meet will begin at 1 p.m. MST. Admission is free and all Cougar fans are invited to come support the team at the Southwest Valley Family YMCA. Results will be posted immediately following the meet on the men’s and women’s schedule pages.
