BYU starts strong at first day of Wildcat Invite
Wildcat Diving Invitational Day 1-Results
PROVO, Utah – Kevin Dreesen and Kaela Call led BYU dive Friday in the first day of the Wildcat Diving Invitational in Tucson, Arizona.
“The meet went really well for our divers,” BYU head diving coach Tyce Routson said. “The men’s team battled against some really good competition. Kevin got second in the 1-meter event diving with some really skilled divers and Kaela did a great job in the 3-meter event as well. The teams got a good taste of what NCAA Zones will be like, and this meet will be great preparation for what is to come.”
In the preliminary round of the women’s 3-meter event, Call scored a 232.75, good enough to get her into the consolation finals. In those finals, she took sixth place with a score of 233.00.
On the men’s side, Matt Denkers scored a 323.60 for second in the preliminary round, with Dreesen diving to a 314.40 for third. Dreesen then registered a 348.35 in the final for a second-place finish on the day.
