MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Day one of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference championships is in the books with the BYU men’s 200-yard medley relay team setting a new school record.

“Our guys breaking that school record in the 200 medley relay is awesome,” BYU head swim coach John Brooks said. “It was a solid start and we are right where we want to be going forward.”

Rainer Ng, Michael and McKay King and Jake Taylor combined to finish the 200 medley relay in 1:28.26, good enough for third place in the meet and a new BYU record.

The women’s 200 medley relay team made up of Ciera Marsh Keller, Anna Dahl, Haley Bertoldo and Alexandria Sorensen also finished third with Sorensen touching the wall with a time of 1:40.96.

The Cougars picked up another third-place finish, this time in the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay. Luis Ventura, McKay King, Ng and Rafael Alfaro combined for a time of 6:35.96.

Tomorrow’s events include the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay.

All events will be streamed live online via webcast. There is also a live results page as well as the free "Meet Mobile" app. Results will be posted each evening of the championships on the men's and women's schedule pages.
