All-America and All-West Region Teams Announced
PROVO, Utah - BYU women's soccer players Lindsi Lisonbee and Carlee Payne represented the team this week, receiving postseason honors from the NCAA and National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their season efforts in 2011.
The junior defendor, Lisonbee, was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-America Third Team for the second year in a row to receive All-America honors. Lisonbee tied for third place on the team for her total goals with four while also contributing two assists and 20 shots in 19 games for BYU. She anchored a Cougar defense that allowed just 16 goals all season against four Top-25 teams and six programs that competed in this year's Division I College Cup.
Fellow West Coast Conference schools Santa Clara, Pepperdine and San Diego also had players included on the All-American Teams.
Lisonbee and Payne both received NCAA Women's Division I All-West Region honors with Lisonbee honored on the First Team and Payne named to the Second Team.
Payne led the team with 34 shots as a forward while contributing the second-most goals on the team and nine assists. The five goals Payne added this season put her at 11th place on BYU's all-time career goals leaderboard.
The Cougars finished the season 11-5-3 and went 5-2-1 in their first year with the WCC.
