Final Home Game Ends in a Loss
PROVO, Utah – The BYU women's soccer team (10-5-3, 4-2-1) was unable to secure a victory over San Diego on Senior Day, falling 1-0 in its final home game of the regular season.
“It’s an extremely disappointing loss,” BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. “Our last game here, it was hard to go down this way. You have to play your best at the end of the year and we just struggled today. We didn’t have our rhythm.”

We’ve worked so hard to get to this point to have things in our control and we knew San Diego was a great team with a lot of experience but we just came out flat; we didn’t have the energy.
San Diego has a tough defense. Their back four are really solid. I think a lot of it came down to that we just couldn’t keep the ball. We didn’t come out with a lot of energy. Especially considering how well we moved the ball our last few games, I don’t know if I have any answers. We weren’t prepared and I guess that’s on us as coaches. I thought we were ready for this game but we didn’t come out with the energy that we needed to have. We had a couple opportunities to tie the game up but they didn’t fall for us.
We just have to regroup and be ready to go next week. We do have one last game. We have to finish strong. We let one slip away today. San Diego is a great team and we have to give them a lot of credit. They scored a nice goal on one of our mistakes. Those things happen. We’re going to have great practices and be ready to finish out next week.
