PROVO -- Scoring No. 9 BYU's lone goal for the week in its 1-0 victory over Rice on the road, freshman Lynda Hercules has been awarded Offensive Player of the Week by the Mountain West Conference, as announced by the conference Monday.

The game winner from Hercules came in the 43rd minute of action in BYU's tough 1-0 victory over Rice on their home field. Hercules had entered the game just seven minutes before netting her second goal of the season.

The Cougars held the Owls scoreless for the rest of the game, securing the victory and their fourth shutout of the season.

Hercules recorded a team-high three shots in the winning effort. The win advanced the Cougars to their undefeated 7-0-1 overall season record.

The Cougars continue their road game swing in Texas with a game against the University of Texas Longhorns to be played tonight at 7 p.m. CT.
