PROVO -- Head coach Jennifer Rockwood and members of the BYU women's soccer team finished their sports camps this week and are now ready to start training for their upcoming season beginning with an exhibition game on Aug. 14 in Provo.

"I love meeting young players who enjoy soccer as much as I do," said BYU forward Jennie Marshall. "Having the opportunity to work with them and see them develop as soccer players, and as people, is very rewarding. Plus, I hope to coach soccer and provide athletic training to young athletes in the future, so working camps is a fun experience for me."

Marshall and other BYU women's soccer players are given the opportunity to help coach a small group of campers each week they participate in camp.

"My favorite thing about sports camps is meeting lots of fun kids," said BYU forward Auna Janis, who worked four camps this summer. "I like getting to know the campers and playing fun games with them!"

Soccer camps this summer were held on seven different weeks and were for young athletes of all ages, ranging from 7-18 years of age. Campers were given the chance to work closely with BYU athletes and coaches as they participated in drills and games to perfect their skills.

If you missed out on soccer camps this year, come join the team next summer. And don't forget to watch the team this season as they seek to defend their title of 2009 MWC Regular Season Champions.

"BYU sports camps are so much fun!" Janis said. "You learn new skills, meet a lot of fun people, and do fun activities."
